All of Bay County falls under a tree
ordinance of some sort. For the most part all the cities
within the county also have tree ordinances. Where you live
will greatly effect whether or not you can remove your
trees. To determine whether or not a tree is protected you
will need to contact you local city hall. If your tree is
protected you will then need to fill out and turn in a tree removal
permit which is available for Panama City at the Panama City Police
Department and for all other cities at their city halls. The
permits are free for most cities but some have a fee of $10.00 if
the tree is not drying or dead. Permits will most likely not
be granted if the tree is healthy and not causing any damage or not
likely to. Note: Removing a tree without a permit can result
in fines as high as
$10,000.00.
